Directa Plus (AIM: DCTA), a producer and supplier of graphene-based products for use in consumer and industrial markets, is pleased to announce that the Company has signed a collaboration agreement (“the Agreement”) with Ambienthesis S.p.A. (“Ambienthesis”).
Ambienthesis specialises in the reclamation, environmental remediation and treatment, recovery and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Its areas of expertise include: environmental remediation; disposal and recovery of industrial waste; design, construction and management of systems for the disposal and recovery of industrial waste and energy production. Ambienthesis is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.
The agreement will involve the evaluation, development and promotion of products, plants and services, which will be used for the remediation of soil and groundwater and industrial waste waters at Ambienthesis’ plant in Orbassano, Turin. The materials will use the Company’s G+ graphene products, particularly Grafysorber®. Grafysorber® has been independently tested1 to demonstrate that the material performs at least five times better than the other adsorbent products currently on the market, at a very low cost to high efficiency ratio, and the used adsorbent material can be recovered and recycled.
Testing will start at the beginning of 2019 and will be performed using a mobile treatment plant provided by Directa Plus, specifically engineered for the project. The collaboration agreement will be divided into two phases: phase one will last approximately six months and will aim to verify the treatment capacity for various types of liquid waste that will be the subject of studies and experiments. The outcome of phase one will then define the basis of a potential commercial agreement between the parties as the second phase of the process.
Commenting on the agreement, Giulio Cesareo, Founder and CEO of Directa Plus, said: “Extending the use of our advanced Grafysorber® product into the industrial waste and soil remediation markets is an important step forward. This agreement with Ambienthesis potentially expands our target sectors for environmental treatment services significantly and follows our strategy of using locally based, but internationally active, Italian companies as a springboard to global markets.”
About Directa Plus
Our focus is principally on the two sectors in which we have strong commercial advantage through developed and launched products and a technological lead: environmental (based on our Grafysorber® product) and textiles (based on our G+ products). In addition, we will continue to pursue opportunities in elastomers and composites (including tyres and asphalt), also using our G+ products. All our products are hypoallergenic, non-toxic and sustainably produced.
About the National Graphene Association (NGA)
The National Graphene Association is the main organization and body in the U.S. advocating and promoting the commercialization of graphene. NGA is focused on addressing critical issues such as policy and standards development that will result in effective integration of graphene and graphene based materials globally. NGA brings together current and future graphene stakeholders — entrepreneurs, companies, researchers, developers and suppliers, investors, venture capitalists and government agencies — to drive innovation, and to promote and facilitate the commercialization of graphene products and technologies.
